Objectives:
At the conclusion of this educational activity, the participant should be able to:

• Recognize obesity as a disease, requiring a concerted therapeutic focus.
• Analyze all three major treatment modalities (lifestyle, medication, surgical) and recognize that they can be intensified to achieve greater degrees of weight loss.
• Evaluate risk stratification and patient selection for various treatment options to optimize benefit/risk ratio and patient outcomes.
• Describe the benefits and limitations of recently approved medical therapies for obesity.
• Provide accurate and appropriate counsel as part of the treatment team.
• Provide appropriate care and counsel for patients and their families.

Understand the differences between the mechanistic effects of estrogen alone versus estrogen plus a progestin for menopause management. Understand the concept of tissue selective estrogen complexes as an emerging approach for menopause management.

Understand the current controversies in the use of minimally invasive techniques for adrenalectomy. Understand some future areas for clinical research in endocrine surgery.

Shea, MD Objectives: At the conclusion of the presentation, attendees will be able to: Describe recent lipid trial results relevant for the endocrinologists. Illustrate how lipid management is altered by pathophysiologic mechanisms. Predict recommendations of the new lipid guidelines.

MacArthur, MD Objectives: At the conclusion of the presentation, attendees will be able to: Understand the magnitude of the issues in caring for HIV-infected persons today. Recognize the newer modalities available for treating complications of HIV. Be aware of the recent epidemiology of HIV infection.

1:30-2:20pm	Paget's Disease of Bone Henry G. Bone, MD, FACP, FACE Objectives: At the conclusion of the presentation, attendees will be able to: Recognize the radiographic appearance of Paget's Disease of Bone, as well as the typical biochemical markers of disease activity. Recognize the major complications of Paget's Disease of Bone and their management. Formulate a treatment plan that will take into account contributory disorders, disease severity, extent and activity, as well as surveillance for recurrence or incomplete response.
2:20-3:10pm	Precocious Puberty Arpita Vyas, MBChB, DCH, FAAP Objectives: At the conclusion of the presentation, attendees will be able to: Recognize timing of normal puberty in children. Determine causes of precocious puberty. Understand and formulate management of precocious puberty.

3:40-4:10pm	Thyroid Nodules and Lymph Nodes - Their Significance, Ultrasound Appearance and What Should We Biopsy John C. Crockett, MD Objectives: At the conclusion of the presentation, attendees will be able to: Better understand the ultrasound appearance of benign vs. indeterminate vs. malignant thyroid nodules. Better understand what thyroid nodules should be biopsied. Better understand the ultrasound appearance of benign vs. potentially malignant lymph nodes in patient with papillary thyroid cancer.
4:10-4:40pm	What Endocrinologists Need to Know About MRI and Lesions of Pituitary and Sella Turcica J. Kevin DeMarco, MD Objectives: At the conclusion of the presentation, attendees will be able to: Describe the advantages/utility of T1, T2 weighted, and post-contrast MR images. Review the neuroanatomy of the pituitary and sella turcica. List the differential diagnosis of sellar/suprasellar/parasellar masses based on location and patient age.
4:40-5:30pm	Mechanism of Cholesterol Induced Myocardial Infarction: Evidence of systemic and local arterial inflammation George S. Abela, MD, MSc, MBA, FACC, FAHA, FNLA Objectives: At the conclusion of the presentation, attendees will be able to: Describe the status of current mechanisms of heart attacks and strokes. Describe how the physico chemical effects of cholesterol can induce heart attacks and strokes. Describes how cholesterol crystals trigger inflammation like other crystaloid diseases (i.e. gout).
5:30-5:45pm	Post Test Questions Objectives: At the conclusion of the meeting, attendees will be able to measure learning that occurred that will enable the use of new healthcare techniques and practices and to review or confirm existing care modalities.
